A run down cottage slumbering in the woods of a grand estate. The brief was to create a dwelling within the shell of the existing structure. Our intervention - a low profile glazed extension was incorporated as a bridge between the original structure and the modern extension. The extent of glazing also allows the internal space to fully converse with the surrounding environment. A zinc cladded roof was introduced to elevate the existing shell to allow accommodation to be provided at first floor. The minimal interventions allow the detailing of the existing structure to be highlighted without interference or competition.
