Jonathan is a Chartered Architect with substantial experience delivering architectural projects across varying sectors & scales including significant new build, extension/refurbishment and conservation work. In particular his previous work has seen him lead a number of large scale and high quality new build care home projects & portfolios. Prior to establishing Vanguard House, Jonathan worked as an Associate at WRDunn and his formative practice years were spent with Gelder & Kitchen LLP.  Jonathan was architecturally trained at the University of Lincoln. He is also a qualified Graphic Designer which provides strong foundations for excellent visual communication throughout his work. Jonathan has over 20 years of experience in the field of Architecture and Design and he has gained extensive knowledge of the domestic, care and health sectors. He has developed numerous successful designs over the years in the following areas -

PRIVATE HEALTHCARE


Frontier Estates

Jonathan has worked closely with Frontier Estates, one of the leading care sector developers in the UK, developing numerous new build private residential care homes, assisted/close care and retirement community schemes alongside their operational partners that include Barchester Healthcare, Quantum Care, CareUK, Care Concern Group and Brighterkind. Key projects include care homes located in Southampton; Matlock, Westwood, Carpenders, Watford, Biggleswade, West Kempston, Leicester, Wallingford, Reading, Moreton-in-Marsh, Pagham, Fleet, Barnstaple, Cornwall, Market Drayton, Sayers Common, Stubbington, Waterlooville, Canterbury & Market Harborough.


Perseus Land and Development

A developer specialising in bespoke residential accommodation for older people with both emerging and acute care needs including extra care housing and care homes, Jonathan has led developments including a new build care home at Ashbourne.


COMMERCIAL, LEISURE & RETAIL


Barmbyfields

The contemporary extension and new build development at Barmbyfields wedding venue involved the careful design consideration in relation to the Grade II listed Manor. The design solution provided a highly contemporary aesthetic which sat in sympathy with the traditional setting through its considered design simplicity.


Spurn Point Visitors Centre

Closely working with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Jonathan developed the visitor wayfinding across the Spurn Point site and also created the concept design to raise funds for the project which is now complete.


RESIDENTIAL & COMMUNITY

World of Wonder Project - Hull Community Church

Designed and Project managed this unique project which provided a fairytale facility for inspiring children to expand their imagination, learn, perform and most importantly play. 


EDUCATION

C.A.T.C.H project, Stallingborough (£9 Million)

Designed and detailed a process unit, workshop building, classrooms, refectory facility and office for the development and training in industrial processes.


Thoresby Primary School

Designed a Multi-Use-Game-Arena.


RENEWABLE ENERGY


Project Greenport, Hull

The Green Port Hull vision was to establish a world class centre for renewable energy, creating specialism, wealth and employment for the region. Working with Associated British Ports, Jonathan was responsible for the master planning and 3-D visual animation for the entire site which proved instrumental in encouraging Siemens to choose to invest in wind turbine production in Hull. This development was budgeted at £310 million which ultimately created hundreds of jobs, provided a much-needed trade for the region and received recognition from the Prime Minister. 


PUBLIC HEALTHCARE


Humber NHSFT -

Learning Disabilities Unit Townend Court (£7 million)

Designed from inception and detailed a multi-award-winning building which creates an environment that is conducive to the recovery process required to support reintegration into community living.


The Humber Centre Extension (£5 million)

Concept design for an extension to a secure mental health facility. 


Morrill Street Health Centre (£4 million)

New GP surgery, new pharmacy building and refurbishment of existing building.


Glenfield Hospital Leicester MRI Unit (£2 million)

Designed and fully detailed a new MRI Unit to be integrated into an existing service / building.


Horsham Rehabilitation Centre, CareUK and Sussex NHS Partnership framework (£5 million)

The first private-public collaboration project in the UK, the development of Horsham rehabilitation centre provided step down support and accommodation to patients prior to discharge. The development included independent medium-stay apartments, short-term assessment suites and community support hub.


CareUK Lichfield (£5 million)

A new build mental health rehabilitation centre, offering step down recovery for patients prior to discharge.  The development included independent medium-stay apartments, short-term assessment suites and community support hub.


OFF SHORE

Restoration of BP off-shore oil platforms.
